Half of defining our website to Second Street was what we wanted to see and the other half was what we didn’t want to see. Second Street was extremely attentive in understanding the concept of our unique style of Bed and Breakfast. Most lodging sites are focused on “here’s the building you will be staying in” while we were trying to portray the experience of staying at our Inn. The overwhelming majority of our guests compliment us on our website thanks to Second Street. In the B&B business, it is so important that the website not oversell the experience. When guest expectations are not met, we won’t see them again. It has been music to our ears and a tribute to Second Street that our guests frequently comment that their stay either meets or exceeds what the website portrays.

Orange Virginia, Bed & Breakfast

classic elegance, natural beauty, a piece of history

Located near James Madison's Montpelier and in the heart of Virginia horse and wine country is the Inn at Westwood Farm. This site began with a visit to the inn and an easy friendship with the owners Elizabeth Goeke and Jay Billie.

This area of Virgina is well populated with bed and breakfasts. The owners of the Inn at Westwood Farm wanted the new site to distinguish the Inn's uniqueness from other inns in the area, highlighting their approach to a successful bed and breakfast experience. Rather than the typical old hunt country, dark colors and antiques, the Inn's trademark style is best distinguished by:

  • Bright, airy open rooms,
  • Beds supplied with the freshest linens and down comforters,
  • Clean and newly burnished wood,
  • Modern bathrooms with the best of fixtures,
  • Lots of nooks and crannies inside and out to easily accommodate a full house of guests, and
  • And of course the trademark great breakfasts with organic food
Jay and Elizabeth were previously successful in business and were very clear on the image they wanted to convey.

The Second Street Touch

What people don't forget about this part of Virginia, and what brings them back, is the beautiful countryside. Nowhere is this clearer than at the Inn. With a wealth of wonderful photography, we designed the site to capture a dream place we would all like to travel to ... even live in.

The site is memorable. Its design is clean and comfortable - like the Inn itself. These key design choices make it work:

  • Alternating unique photographs in each page header
    providing a virtual tour of the inn,
  • Presenting a clean navigation scheme with evident
    where you are markers, along with the ability to expand
    or contract the navigation,
  • Blending a panoramic view of the Virginia countryside
    on the bottom of the pages to remind visitors of
    the lovely environs, and
  • Creating an elastic site layout enabling the site
    to stretch or shrink to fill the entire browser
    window regardless of screen resolution.
