In 1998, I formed Second Street Web Design to provide a new kind of web design and consulting service. Years earlier, I had majored in art. Two and half years into that, I came to the conclusion that I totally lacked talent. In your twenties everything is black and white. In your forties shades of gray are much easier to discern. While I still think I will never become a fine artist, I do think I have reasonable design sense.
But at that time, so convinced was I, that I stopped and pursued a career in computers. Most of my adult life was spent in the computer field. Primarily data communications and its supporting business systems. I had a successful - high-tech career.
Then, in the course of 3 years everything changed. I adopted 3 kids, and the illusive struggle for balance between work and home life became of paramount importance. I dropped out of corporate America and started Second Street Web Design. In addition to being better able to balance home and work life, I wanted to reconnect with my artisan beginnings.
Today, I think web design services largely fall into 3 categories. The first and most expensive web design firms are equipped with graphic designers, programmers, and multimedia specialists. The second type, are provided by graphic designers without the understanding of the technical underpinnings. The third type are provided by computer geeks, who understand well the technical underpinnings, but often completely lack design sense.
My strength is that I offer a quality design service based on my years of technical experience coupled with reasonable design sense - for a manageable price.
Working with me, you will feel that you can ask any question, you will not feel like you are working with a
monolithic giant corporation, and you will understand how seriously I take making your website a success.
